Our Process
How it's made
Precise, patient, and personal. Here's what to expect from first conversation to finished stone.
Consultation
We talk through who you are honoring, the stone, and the wording — with care and no pressure.
Design & Proof
We lay out the lettering and artwork and send you a proof to approve before any stone is touched.
Sandblast Engraving
Your approved design is masked, stenciled, and precision-blasted deep into the granite.
Finish & Install
Lettering is painted or left natural, then finished at our shop or on-site at the cemetery.
Why sandblasting?
Sandblast engraving is the traditional method trusted by monument makers for over a century. A durable rubber stencil of your design is applied to the stone, and fine abrasive is blasted through the cut-out letters and artwork under pressure.
The result is a design cut deep into the granite itself — crisp, even, and permanent. Unlike surface etching or paint, it doesn't fade or wear away, and the recessed lettering can be left natural or filled with lithichrome for contrast and readability.
For companion monuments and existing headstones, we can bring this same processright to the cemetery and match the original lettering so the new inscription blends seamlessly with the old.
